Through its ambiance, quick service and creative product we have made the Thirsty Horse an exciting watering hole to while away time.

Being predominantly a sports pub, large screens project live sport throughout the day. With overseas soccer being the most watched sport it’s not surprising that the Thirsty Horse is the official venue of the Liverpool Supporters Club. The carnival atmosphere during big matches makes for an unforgettable experience.

Large groups of regulars frequent Karaoke nights at the Thirsty Horse Café on Fridays. Our DJ plays to wide requests from the house. The versatility of our patrons in embracing a wide repertoire of music ranging from golden oldies to modern contemporary hits means that there is some entertainment of everyone.

Patrons needing a respite can adjourn to the inner chambers of the secluded gaming area and try their hand on the slot machines in air-conditioned comfort and privacy.

Our rooms have under-gone extensive refurbishment – they have been completely stripped off ceilings, furniture, bathrooms fittings & tiles. This has made way for a new & modern concept, which now compares favorably with the standards of 5 star hotels. The bathrooms are well-appointed with porcelain tiles, Hans Groe fittings, Geberet flush systems and granite tops.

The rooms are fitted with well designed furniture of superb quality, décor wall paper, modern bedside lamps, split units air conditioning, flat screen TVs (offering 8 channels) and free W-Fi. For quarter the price of a room in a 5 star hotel, our customers are enjoying all these facilities.

Today the hotel has a contingent of 74 well-groomed staff to cater for the diverse needs of our clients. The Capscium restaurant, which has undergone three major refurbishments since its establishment in 2001, is now a popular venue for our locals, seasonal tourists mainly from Gauteng and Cape Town and ex-pats from abroad. Our patrons are spoilt for choice as the menu offers a broad range of food from traditionally cooked curries to grills. We have become well known for our delicious mutton bunny chows and our iconic chops-chutney but we are also renowned for grilled seafood! Much of the popularity of the Capscium is attributed to the accolades received from food critics, TV coverage in shows such as Espresso and write-ups in in-flight magazines of national airlines. We also featured in Braai Master, a TV show that focused on the recipe of our exotic crab curry.

The restaurant is particularly very busy during the school vacations and long weekends, a time when tourists from Gauteng flock to Durban. Visiting the Capscium is a ritual for these holiday makers. Management is constantly striving to improve existing products prepared in our kitchen no matter how popular they are. The menu is revised twice a year. New exciting products are added and some products are taken off. There is a broad range of vegetarian cuisine in the menu. The kitchen also provides room service for our patrons who want to enjoy our food within the confines of the privacy of our rooms.
